As we approach another one of the most-traveled weekends of the year, there's a good chance you're wondering about bed bugs if you're booking a room in a Missouri motel or hotel. There's an easy way to find out if your Show Me State destination has a recent history of everyone's worst travel nightmare.

I am not gonna name names of the Missouri motels where bed bug reports have been submitted, but I will give you links to go see them for yourself. Here's a direct link to the Missouri section of Bed Bug Reports. When you go there, you'll see this lineup of Missouri towns and cities where you can check wherever you're going to see if there are new reports of bed bugs.

Here is one from a Farmington, Missouri motel from just days ago:

"8/25/2024 found a lot of bed bugs on the corner at the top of the mattress, the staff was great and moved me immediately. No refunds."

Here's a Branson, Missouri lodge that had a complaint registered just last month:

"Found a bed bug crawling across the floor after pulling out the bed on the pull out couch. Had started putting the sheets on and saw it. Called the hotel lobby and they said “it happens sometimes” packed up and left immediately."

I found another series of complaints about bed bugs from a Branson, Missouri hotel, but some of the reports are from years ago yet they speak of staff acknowledging an infestation, so perhaps that might add some caution for some.

My advice is to check the Missouri section of Bed Bug Reports before you make a reservation then call the motel/hotel directly if you have concerns and see what their reaction is.
