A Mississippi man is in custody following an attempted traffic stop and brief pursuit.
Hannibal Police observed a suspicious individual in the 300 block of South Griffith shortly before 6 p-m Friday. Police say the man--- 30 year old Michael Rucker left a residence in a vehicle, then fleeing a traffic stop at a high rate of speed while going the wrong way on Willow Street. Officers later observed Rucker break a window and climb into a residence in the 300 block of South Griffith. Rucker remained in the house for a time before surrendering. Rucker gave a false name and it was determined that he was wanted for escape in Mississippi. He was treated for injuries at Hannibal Regional Hospital and taken into custody. Rucker is charged with felony resisting arrest, reckless driving, operating without a license, failure to register a motor vehicle, open liquor and on a Mississippi warrant for escape.
