Spring training starts in just over two weeks for the 2014 St. Louis Cardinals. KHMO’s Bill Shuler visited with long time Cardinals broadcaster Mike Shannon.
Mike Shannon on the Cardinals outfield situation…
“I don’t think anyone knows right now because in the last two or three years we haven’t had that much competition in the outfield, now we’re going to have almost as much competition in the outfield as we’ve had on the pitching staff.”

On the overall talent….
“The talent the Cardinals have right now is probably as good as they’ve ever had and to see those kids compete against one another and then compete against the opposition… it’s really a lot of fun.”

The interview also touches on Bob Gibson’s 17 strikeouts in game 1 of the 1968 World Series…
