Marion County Traffic Stop Results in Marijuana Bust

Two men are in custody as the result of a traffic stop on Highway 36 near Highway Z in Monroe City early Friday morning.

Marion County deputies made the stop at 4:15 a.m. Friday. A search of the vehicle by deputies and the Monroe City Police K-9 unit uncovered 13 pounds of marijuana.

Taken into custody were 33 year old David McKitrick of Indiana and 22 year old Jose Luis Chavez of Nocupetaro, Mexico.

The two are in the Marion County Jail on a 24 hour hold, pending review of the case by the prosecuting attorney.
