Legionnaires’ Cases Up to 23 at Illinois Veterans’ Home

The number of confirmed cases of Legionnaires’ Disease at the Illinois Veterans Home continues to grow.

Officials with the Adams County Health Department now say there are 23 confirmed cases of the respiratory ailment among residents of the home.

Along with the health department, the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Center for Disease Control and Blessing Hospital have been working with the facility on environmental control and mediation.

While outside visitors have not been restricted, officials say anyone who is sick or has immunity issues should probably hold off on visiting the home.

The source of the bacteria has yet to be determined.
