The much-anticipated grand opening of downtown Hannibal's newest attraction comes Saturday, August 13.

Karlock's Kars and Pop Culture opens its doors for the first time at 114 South 3rd Street from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, then will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday.

The new attraction is the culmination of over a half-century of collecting by Steve and Sandy Karlock, who come to Hannibal from California. Sandy is originally from Troy, Missouri.

Yes, this is a classic car museum (which includes a motorcycle once owned by Steve McQueen), but it's much more. The Karlock's collections also include vintage signs, memorabilia, even a large collection of pocket knives.

Saturday's grand opening will also feature a classic car display by the Loafers Car Club on Church Street from 1 to 4 p.m., along with free hot dogs.

Admission to the museum is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 13.
