Take a Step Back in Time – Karlock’s Kars & Pop Culture
If ever there was a town with multiple fascinating attractions that take you back in time, it's America's Hometown - Hannibal.
Most of the attractions take you back to the 1800s, to the time of Tom and Becky and Huck and Jim, or to the Victorian era, when Mark Twain was the toast of the literary world.
But, Hannibal has one attraction that's harkens back to a time that most of us "of a certain age," remember fondly.
Steven and Jacklyn Karlock came to Hannibal in 2016 and opened Karlock's Kars and Pop Culture in a restored produce warehouse at 114 South 3rd.
The Karlock's came to the Midwest from California, where Steve had been a collector, as the name implies, of classic cars and all things pop culture.
If you're a classic car fan, Karlock's features vehicles dating back to 1940, all restored and shined up like they just came off the showroom floor.
On the pop culture side, you name it - jukeboxes, Elvis memorabilia, pinball machines and toys ranging from Star Wars to Big Bird to Yosemite Sam.
And, admission to see all this is only eight dollars for adults.
NOTE: We should mention that Steven Karlock died in August and Jacklyn in September. We certainly hope that this attraction that is one of Hannibal's hidden gems will be able to stay open for us to enjoy.
