In a letter to parents Friday, officials in the Highland Schools announced they will be using the distance learning model of instruction for at least the next two weeks.

They made it clear this was due primarily to a shortage of staff, rather than concern over community spread of COVID-19.

In the Canton R-5 schools, the announcement was made Saturday of the transition to hybrid learning for all grade levels this week.

All Canton students will be in distance learning Monday, with parents to be updated on in-person learning possibilities Tuesday through Friday.

Both schools were closed last Friday due to positive coronavirus cases and a large number of students and staff in quarantine.
