Officials with the Hannibal School District issued a statement concerning an incident that took place at the Hannibal Career and Technical Center Tuesday morning.

Superintendent Susan Johnson sent a notice to parents and the media, stating that a student at the career and tech center had brought a BB gun to school.

Johnson said the student willingly turned the gun over to school officials, and at no time was anyone in danger.

Coincidentally, this took place at the same time the school district was conducting one of its regular canine searches.

Johnson said the two situations were not related in any way.
