Two young Hannibal residents are in custody after an off duty Hannibal Police officer spotted a stolen vehicle. The officer noticed the vehicle at 4:44 this morning and followed it until on duty officers arrived and attempted a traffic stop. A vehicle pursuit resulted and stop sticks halted the vehicle at US 36 and Veterans Road. Officers say the driver and passenger fled into a nearby wooded area. Police say the driver—17 year old Joshua Young and a passenger—20 year old Kaitlyn Utterback were taken into custody without incident. Both are in custody on 24 hour holds for receiving stolen property. Their involvement in a December 16 burglary is under investigation.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story had mistakenly identified the passenger as "Kayla" rather than "Kaitlyn". The story has been updated accordingly.
