Hannibal Pirates Suffer First Loss

(Jeff City, Mo)--Jefferson City Helias overpowered the Hannibal Pirates Saturday evening, the final was 31 to 18. The Pirates played a tight first half, but had turnover issues in the 2nd. Pirate QB Dalton Powell completed 11 of 16 passes but threw two interceptions. Mitch Nichols ran for 126 yards on 15 carries for the Pirates. A controversy regarding top seed entering week 9 has emerged, as Helias is expected to appeal to the MSHAA based on points, attempting to unseat Hannibal, who was undefeated until last night.
