New Hannibal football coach Quentin Hamner met with the media Friday morning.
Hamner becomes the 30th head coach in the 122 year history of Pirate football. He wants to build on the tradition and the efforts of Mark St. Clair over the last 22 seasons.
Coach St. Clair emphasized life lessons. Hamner says that will continue. "I  want to make sure everybody understands that my purpose as head football coach is to teach life lessons through the greatest team sport invented--that's football." Hamner says his message to his team and coaching staff is to keep up the solid work. The Pirates have reached the Class 4 quarterfinals in three of the last four years.

Quentin Hamner coached at Keokuk last season after previous coaching stops in the Kansas City area at Park Hills, … Staley and Harrsonville. Hamner was also the head coach at his high school alma mater as Clark County won the Class 2 state championship in 2008
