A Hannibal motorcyclist is killed in a three vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 70 at Midrivers Mall Drive in St. Charles County just before 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The Highway Patrol reports 26 year old Austin Bergheger of Hannibal attempted to pass an SUV, driven by a St. Charles man, and struck a pickup, driven by a man from Oklahoma.

After the impact, the SUV struck Bergheger, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The man accused of killing a Palmyra woman last weekend in back in Marion County.

According to Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn, 34 year old Raymond Gum, Jr. was extradited back to Marion County from Menard County, Illinois Wednesday afternoon.

Gum is charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 34 year old Crystal Cooper in Palmyra last Friday.

Gum was taken into custody by authorities in Petersburg, Illinois last Saturday.

Gum awaits arraignment in Marion County Circuit Court.
