Hannibal Man Involved in US 36 Standoff

Negotiation with a Hannibal man brandishing a weapon during a traffic stop closed US 36 near Hamilton Missouri Monday morning.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says a Caldwell County Sheriff's deputy stopped a car for speeding ons US 36 Eastbound about two miles east of Hamilton. A news release states that the driver brandished a weapon and threatened to harm himself. Caldwell County authorities requested help from the Highway Patrol at 4;15 a-m. US 36 was closed in both directions until the man agreed to exit the vehicle around 10:15 a-m. The man is identified only as a 39 year old white male from Hannibal. He was taken into custody in Caldwell County.
