The Hannibal Hoots scored first, but the Chillicothe Paints controlled the rest of the game on their way to a 6-1 win Thursday at Clemens Field.

Hannibal scored in the first when center fielder Patrick Donohue wound up at second on an error, was bunted to third and scored on a ground out by first baseman Dylan Dodd.

That would be the only bright spot for the Hoots, as they were held to just one hit the rest of way. Meanwhile, Chillicothe took the lead with two in the second on a double, a dropped third strike, a wild pitch, a single and a fielder's choice.

The Paints added single runs in the fourth and fifth and two more in the eighth to seal the win.

Hannibal and Chillicothe meet again Friday at 6:35 p.m. at Clemens Field.
