The Danville Dans broke up a pitcher's duel in the sixth and held off the Hannibal Hoots with a 2-1 win Sunday at Clemens Field.

Danville broke a scoreless tie in the sixth, turning two doubles and a single into two runs.

Hannibal rallied in the ninth. Shortstop Josh Lane and right fielder Dylan Dodd led off with a singles. With one out, third baseman Zac Whalin was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Pinch hitter Aaron Goecks blooped a single to right to score Lane, making it 2-1, with the bases loaded and only one out. But, Dans' reliever Josh Ulane shut the door, retiring second baseman Joe Roscetti and pinch hitter Patrick Donahue to end the game.

The loss dropped the Hoots to 3-8. They travel to Danville Monday night.
