The Hannibal Cavemen lost a lead late in game one and early in game two, losing a doubleheader to the Dans in Danville Thursday night by scores of 3-2 and 4-2.

In game one, Hannibal scored first in the second inning on an RBI double by catcher Troy Wehde. Danville tied the score in the bottom of the second. It stayed 1-1 until the eighth.

The Cavemen took a 2-1 lead in the eighth on a walk to shortstop Seth Soto and a run-scoring single by left fielder A.J. VanMeetren.

The Dans came back, however, scoring single runs in the eighth and ninth, with a walk-off single by second baseman Conner Jauch sealing the win.

In the nightcap, Hannibal scored single runs in the first and second, driven in by Soto and first baseman Josh Griffith.

Danville bounced back in the bottom of the second, plating three runs on five hits to take the lead. They added an insurance run in the fifth.

The losses drop the Cavemen's second half record to 3-16 and 10-33 overall.

Hannibal is back home, opening a five-game home stand Friday night with the Springfield Sliders in town. Game time is 6:35 p.m. To listen to the live webcast, click here.
