A skateboarder from Florida suffers serious injuries in a van-pedestrian mishap on Business 61 at the north edge of New London just after 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Highway Patrol reports 27 year old Devin Gibbons of New London was driving southbound. The pedestrian, 20 year old Nathaniel Blackford of Mary Esther, Florida was skateboarding southbound in the northbound lane, drifted into the southbound lane and ran into the side of the Gibbons van.

Blackford was taken first to Hannibal Regional Hospital, then transferred by Life Flight to University Hospital in Columbia.

 

A Louisiana man suffers serious injuries in a single vehicle crash on Pike County Route W south of Paynesville at 8:25 p.m. Saturday.

The Highway Patrol reports 30 year old Preston Shepherd was southbound when his pickup ran off the road, overturned and struck two trees.

Shepherd was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment.

 

A motorcyclist is seriously hurt in a crash involving a Curryville woman on Highway 61 in St. Charles County at 8:50 p.m. Friday.

The Highway Patrol reports a pickup driven by 57 year old Sandra Grote of Curryville was disabled in the road and was struck by a southbound motorcycle, driven by 20 year old Kyle Gilley of O’Fallon, Missouri.

Gilley was taken to SSM St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis for treatment.

 

Two juveniles escape with minor injuries in a single vehicle crash on Marion County Road 402 east of Palmyra at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Highway Patrol reports a 17 year old male juvenile from Hannibal was eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing his pickup to strike a tree and a fence before overturning.

The driver and his passenger, a 17 year old male juvenile from Palmyra, were taken to Hannibal Regional for treatment.
