(CURRYVILLE) --  Investigators in Curryville are trying to find what caused a fire and explosion that injured two people early Wednesday.

The call for a structure fire came in about 5:35 a.m. Witnesses told authorities two or three explosions accompanied the flames.

Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte said a small propane tank that looked like it had ruptured or burst was found at the scene. The sheriff’s department and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating, but a report had not been issued late Wednesday afternoon.  Authorities said two people were injured. They were identified as Joey Moss and Samantha Wilson.

Moss was taken by ambulance with serious injuries to a Columbia hospital. Wilson’s injuries were reportedly not as bad. She was taken to Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana for treatment.

Firefighters from Curryville, Bowling Green and Eolia and ambulance crews from Pike County and Van Far were called to the scene. The home was gutted by the fire and authorities said it was not livable.
