Some area schools have announced extensions of their closures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Superintendents of the Pike County, Missouri schools met and agreed that Bowling Green, Louisiana and Clopton schools would now remain closed until May 1st.

They also announced they would meet again in mid-April to reassess extending that date.

Also, officials with the Shelby County R-4 school district announced the South Shelby schools would remain closed until April 30th, with students returning May 1st.

They also said there would be no events during this time, and events such as Prom would be rescheduled when it is safe to do so.
