A Clarence man is in the Marion County Jail as the result of an incident just outside of Hannibal.

Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn reports that 41 year old Benjamin Wood was driving his pickup on Highway MM early on the morning of August 15th, when he allegedly struck a vehicle, running it off the road on County Road 418 and firing a shotgun into the rear of the vehicle.

An investigation led to Wood’s arrest at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Clarence.

Wood is charged with first degree assault. He also has Shelby County warrants for probation violation and possession of a controlled substance.

Wood is being held on $50,000 cash only bond.
