Kansas City takes another step toward shoring up a woeful offensive line by taking Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher on the first overall pick Thursday in the NFL Draft.

Fisher is the first offensive tackle taken #1 overall since Miami drafted Jake Long to start the 2008 draft. Prior to that, the St. Louis Rams took Orlando Pace #1 overall in 1997. Pace was instrumental in protecting Kurt Warner and Marc Bulger during the Rams "Greatest Show on Turf" era.

This is the first time since 1962 that the Chiefs franchise held the #1 overall pick. That choice was used on Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive tackle Buck Buchanan.
