“As more persons are taking advantages of the commodities benefits, we needed to expand the times our services are available,” said Stacey Nicholas, Director of Community Outreach Initiatives.

Clients are requested to come only on their assigned days.

Clients can pick-up for other people (with their permission), but only two additional people.  At least one of the people must have a last name on the pick-up day.

Senior food clients can pick-up senior food boxes and commodities at the same time, as long as there are boxes available.

During the time when commodities are being distributed the Emergency Food Pantry will be closed.

“We realize that new ways of doing old tasks can be confusing and challenging,” Nicholas said.  “We hope that everyone will follow the guidelines and be patient.”

The new schedule also opens up additional volunteer opportunities for persons who wish to combat hunger. “We will need persons to fill food boxes, help clients sign-in, and help clients to their vehicles with the food, Nicholas added.  Potential volunteers should contact Douglass Community Services at 573.221.3892
