The Cardinals pounded the Pirates on the way to their 6th win in 7 games.  Matt Holliday hit a 3-run homer to power the Cards past the Pirates with a final score of 5 to 1 on Saturday.  Pitcher Carlos Martinez picked up his third consecutive win of the season, going 8 1/3 innings before closer Trevor Rosenthal came in to pick up his 12th save.

The Chicago Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves 8 to 2 on Saturday.  Jake Arrieta was the winning pitcher.

The World Champion Kansas City Royals halted their 8-game losing streak by whipping the Chicago White Sox 4 to 1.

In  Prospect League baseball, the Hannibal Cavemen hosted the Lafayette Aviators at Clemens Field Saturday evening.  The Cavemen made things interesting in the 9th inning by coming back to tie the score 5-5.  However, the Aviators answered in the top of the 10th with 3 more runs.  The Cavemen failed to score in the bottom of the 10th.  The final was 8 to 5.

The Cavemen hit the road Sunday as they take on the Aviators in Indiana.  The next home game for the Cavemen is Tuesday evening.  Their opponent will be the Springfield Sliders.  Hear all the action on khmoradio.com.  Pregame at 6:20 p.m.

The Quincy Gems lose on the road to the Danville Dans on Saturday.  The final was 10 to 2.  The Gems and the Dans will battle each other again Sunday.
