Canton Teen Charged With Selling Drugs Near School
The Northeast Missouri Narcotics Task Force has announced the arrest of 19-year-old Alec M. Chinnis.
On Friday, February 20, 2015, Alec M. Chinnis was arrested by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Northeast Missouri Narcotics Task Force. During this investigation, the Task Force was able to purchase illegal drugs from Chinnis near a school in Canton, Missouri.
The Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Chinnis with two Class A Felonies for Distributing a Controlled Substance Near a School. The warrant was signed by Associate Circuit Judge Fred L. Westhoff. Chinnis is being held at the Lewis County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
The Task Force was assisted by the Canton Police Department during this investigation. The range of punishment for a Class A Felony is 10-30 years in the Department of Corrections.
