Body Recovered from Mississippi in Lewis County Sunday

Authorities recovered a body from the Mississippi River in Lewis County Sunday evening.

The Highway Patrol reports authorities were called to LaGrange about 6 p.m. on a report of a body in the river.

The body was recovered about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The initial investigation indicates the death came as the result of a water accident on the river.

The identity of the person recovered has not been released.

The Lewis County Coroner says an autopsy is pending.
