Big Snow Possible for Missouri & Illinois, But Don’t Worry – YET
I wanted to get ahead of something you're about to hear a lot about if you live in Missouri or Illinois if you haven't already. There are models that show big snow is possible, but you really shouldn't worry much - yet.
My wife pointed me to some computer models shared by Pivotal Weather. Keep in mind these are computer models that are way far away from the actual date at this point, so things can and will change. But, know that starting Sunday, December 10 going into Monday, December 11, there is a real chance at major snow for someone. Right now, it's showing Missouri and Illinois in the crosshairs. Here's a model showing our part of Missouri and Illinois could see several inches of snow.
But, wait. There's one that's even worse. This one shows upwards of 9 inches in some parts of Missouri and Illinois.
I have 2 reasons why you shouldn't worry at this point. Here's another model that shows our part of Missouri and Illinois getting next to nothing.
For what it's worth, internet weatherman Ryan Hall agrees that Missouri and Illinois COULD see significant snow. It all depends on where that low pressure system is Sunday.
My wife (the meteorologist) mentioned to me that the National Weather Service as of this writing on Monday, December 4, 2023 is saying Sunday's forecast is for sunny and 41 degrees.
I'll end with this. Pay attention to weather forecasts around the middle of the week. It is definitely possible this major system could dump snow on us. The key word is "possible" and not necessarily "likely".
UPDATE: 12/5/23 at 2:01PM
The National Weather Service has now weighed in and seems to be emphasizing Missouri and Illinois is likely to see more rain than snow due to warmer temperatures.
