Authorities Release Names of Shooting Victims Near Columbia

The Boone County Sheriff's Department has identified the victims of an apparent murder-suicide near Columbia.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that 66-year-old Thomas Scofield and his 40-year-old son-in-law, Jason Hagan, died in the shooting Monday morning at a home east of Columbia.

Authorities say Scofield shot Hagan before turning the gun on himself. Hagan's two children, ages 1 and 3, were at the home but were unharmed.

Hagan's body was found inside the home. Scofield was found outside.

Authorities have not released a possible motive.
