Augusta Man Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges

An Augusta, Illinois man is in custody on sexual assault charges.

According to Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger, his office was made aware in July of allegations of sexual abuse against 51 year old David Hiland of Augusta.

An investigation led to the issuing of an arrest warrant Monday, charging Hiland with two counts each of criminal sexual assault and predatory criminal sexual assault.

Hiland is in the Hancock County Jail on $500,000 bond.
