The recently vacated Hardee’s building in the Huck Finn Shopping Center will not remain vacant for long as “The Meats” are coming to Hannibal.

In a press release, ownership group Heartland Beef announced that crews will begin the remodeling process shortly after Christmas. They expect to be open in early March (tentatively March 1).

The new restaurant will employ 40 to 50 residents and operate seven days a week from 10:00 am to midnight.

“We are excited to create dozens of new jobs in Hannibal and provide long-term career growth opportunities,” said HBI COO Craig Truelock. “Our ownership team started our careers in restaurants, and we are passionate about developing the next generation of leaders.”

The ownership team of Tom Browne, Mike Todd, and Truelock were frequent patrons of the previous Hardee’s location at 4729 McMasters Avenue. Upon hearing that the owners would not be renewing their lease, the trio “jumped on the opportunity”.

“We have had our sights set on opening an Arby’s in Hannibal for years but were waiting for the perfect location,” said Browne, HBI CEO. “As luck would have it, the place where our team would meet to discuss an expansion to Hannibal is the very one we were able to make our own.”

There are more than 3,300 Arby’s restaurants in the world and the Hannibal location will be the 35th owned by Indiana-based Heartland Beef Inc. (the Quincy location is another). Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. is the franchisor of the Arby’s Brand and is headquartered in Atlanta.
