Stage Stores Files For Bankruptcy, Hannibal Gordman’s to Close

A recent addition to the Hannibal retail landscape appears to be the latest casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials with Stage Stores announced last week they are filing for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing economic fallout from the coronavirus crisis.

Unless a buyer is found for the business, about 557 stores under the Stage umbrella will close.

One of the stores affected by the Chapter 11 filing is the Gordman’s in the Huck Finn Shopping Center in Hannibal, which has only been open since last June.

No store closing dates have yet been announced.
