Another Call for a US 61 Bypass Around Hannibal

Members of the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission heard another call for a bypass around Hannibal on US 61.

Thomas Oakley—representing the Tri State Development Summit says the bypass would relieve congestion and improve safety with Hannibal LaGrange University and Hannibal High School and Hannibal Middle School along the heavily traveled highway in Hannibal. Commission Chairman Gregg Smith knows the concerns are real but he says the bypass is still a long way from reality until lawmakers come up with a funding plan.
