A Quincy tradition that started as the brainchild of a local radio personality continues Saturday.

Quincy’s 32nd annual St. Patrick’s Day parade began when Y101 Radio’s Jeff Dorsey, with some help from Dennis Oliver, staged a two-person parade down Maine Street, until police told them they couldn’t have a parade without a permit.

But, according to Dorsey, the idea took hold, and has grown tremendously over the years.

The Quincy St. Patrick’s Day parade steps off at 11 a.m. Saturday at 12th and Maine, continuing to 5th and Maine, with about a hundred entries expected.
