A southwestern Illinois teenager is charged as an adult with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old acquaintance.

Madison County prosecutors on Monday also charged 17-year-old Craig D. Miller of the Brooklyn area with aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Authorities say Miller had an ongoing dispute with Malik Garrett of Venice. They say Miller allegedly opened fire when he drove up to a Madison market where Garrett had gathered with three others.

Investigators say Garrett was shot three times and died later at a hospital.

Miller is jailed without bond at the county's juvenile lockup in Edwardsville.

Online court records don't show whether he has an attorney. He has no listed home telephone number.
