15-Year-Old Wrecks Stolen Car on Hwy 57

A 15-year-old in a stolen car lost control and hit a tree early Tuesday morning on Illinois 57 near Bangert drive. Three other juveniles were in the car at the time. The four juveniles fled the scene on foot and were found at a nearby home.

Police revealed the car was stolen from the 13th and Ohio area. It was recently purchased and the keys were left inside. The driver faces charges including theft over $10,000, criminal damage to property, and leaving the scene of an accident. He was placed in the juvenile facility and the three others were released to their parents.
