Under budget and ahead of schedule.
Ribbon cutting ceremonies this (TU) morning mark completion of a bridge replacement project on Warren Barrett just east of US 61. 120 days were allotted for the project. Thanks to good weather… the work was completed in 82 days. A MODOT inspection found problems with the old bridge and Hannibal city officials opted to go for a complete replacement rather than replacing only the bridge deck. That would have meant potential problems with old pilings in around 25 years. The new structure is expected to have a life span of 75 to 100 years. The new bridge is also wider at 48 feet. The added width gives more room for pedestrians and bicyclists. Hannibal Mayor James Hark thanks residents along the detour for their patience with big trucks detoured through residential areas during the work.
