The Marion County Sheriff’s Office issued an update on their investigation into a home invasion and arson fire in Hannibal earlier this week.

In a press release, Detective Brock Decker said the investigation continues into the incident Monday at 771 Head Lane.

Deputies were alerted to a structure fire at the residence. The investigation revealed that two unknown black males entered the home, assaulted the resident, took several items and started a fire in the living room.

The suspects left the scene in a vehicle belonging to the victim. The vehicle was recovered the next day.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that the residence was not chosen randomly.

The suspects are still being sought.
