Two area men were arrested early Friday morning on a number of charges including burglary 2nd degree and possession of a controlled substance.

Shortly before 4:00 am, a Hannibal police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle parked near the storage units at Corporate Square. The officer came across Jordan T Taylor, 24, of New London who initially provided a false name. After detaining and learning Taylor’s real name, the officer learned Taylor had several active Marion County warrants. The officer also located a cut padlock inside the vehicle.

Officers discovered a nearby storage unit with a missing lock. Inside, officers discovered a vehicle containing burglary tools. Hiding behind the vehicle was Joseph A Berry, 24, of Hannibal.

In searching both subjects, officers located substances believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Berry was arrested on charges of Burglary 2nd degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Property Damage. Taylor was arrested on charges of Burglary 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Interfering, Property Damage and (4) active warrants. Both suspects were placed on 24 hour holds at the Marion County Jail.
