A Friday afternoon traffic stop by the Adams County Sheriffs Office resulted in the arrest of a Quincy man.

Jermaine T. Countryman, age 32 of 438 N. 6th in Quincy was arrested on the charges of Methamphetamine Trafficking and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver.  Countryman was the driver of a 2013 Ford passenger car that was stopped by Deputies on IL RT 57 near Marblehead.  The Adams County Sheriffs Office K-9, "Bricks" was utilized during the stop and alerted to the presence of narcotics.  A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 42 grams of Methamphetamine ICE.

Countryman was transported to the Adams County Jail were he remains lodged.  The Sheriffs Office was assisted in the investigation by the West Central Illinois Task Force and the Quincy Police Department.

Court records indicate that Countryman was arrested in Adams County in 2007 for Unlawful Delivery of Cocaine.  Countryman was charged in the United States Central District of Illinois Court and was sentenced to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Countryman was released on parole in October of 2013.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
