Three Hurt, Two Seriously, in Weekend NEMO Traffic Crashes

An Alexandria man suffers serious injuries in a motorcycle crash on Highway 61 and 136 west of Alexandria just before 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The Highway Patrol reports 49 year old Brian Corvaia was westbound when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that had turned into his path, laid his motorcycle down and slid off the road.

Corvaia was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for treatment.

An Edina woman suffers serious injuries in an SUV crash on Knox County Route AA east of Edina at 7:48 p.m. Saturday.

The Highway Patrol reports 65 year old Merry Ward was eastbound when her SUV ran off the road and struck a creek bed.

Ward was taken by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

A Louisiana woman suffers minor injuries in a two vehicle crash on Highway 54 at Pike County Road 277 west of Louisiana at 7:49 p.m. Friday.

The Highway Patrol reports 64 year old Mildred Powell of Frankford was westbound, made an improper pass and struck an eastbound pickup, driven by 87 year old Harold Fancher of Louisiana.

A passenger in the Fancher pickup, 79 year old Shelia Radford, also of Louisiana, was taken to Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana for treatment.
