The annual Catch Cupid if You Can 5K Run/Walk was scheduled to take place on February 15 in Hannibal's Riverview Park. However, the course is covered with snow and ice, and Hannibal Parks and Recreation has decided to postpone the event, which benefits Douglas Community Services' Kids in Motion program.
(HANNIBAL)—Over the last month work crews have completed most of the cleanup work at Riverview Park following the May wind storm, but more work remains even as the park is scheduled to re-open Monday.
This week's storm has damaged as many as 200 trees at a popular attraction in Mark Twain's hometown. Officials say some of the trees in Hannibal's Riverview Park will need to be taken down and they're urging people to keep away because of the danger. The cleanup could take weeks.
The Hannibal Police Department and the Hannibal Parks Department would like to inform the community that due to the dangers of fallen debris, brought by the recent storm, Riverview Park is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
