The annual Catch Cupid if You Can 5K Run/Walk was scheduled to take place on February 15 in Hannibal's Riverview Park. However, the course is covered with snow and ice, and Hannibal Parks and Recreation has decided to postpone the event, which benefits Douglas Community Services' Kids in Motion program.

The new date for Catch Cupid if You Can is April 26. The 5K will now coincide with annual Just Girls Weekend in downtown Hannibal. Runners may still register to participate; forms are available at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department, 320 Broadway, Douglass Community Services, 711 Grand Avenue, and online from the Hannibal Parks and Recreation website.

The cost is $15 for youth (12 and under); $25 for adults (13 and over); and $40 for couples. The course will be closed off to vehicular traffic so it will be safe for families, senior adults, dogs on leashes and strollers. A flower will be given to each woman that crosses the finish line. There will be prizes for the first man and first woman who finish.

Packets may be picked up between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation office in City Hall, or before the event starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Riverview Park.

Kids in Motion is a pre-employment/service learning training program for teens and pre-teens which teaches the value of work and community. Participants in Kids in Motion spend time in Riverview Park in the summer, picking up trash, weeding and clearing trails. Kids in Motion members will be on the course cheering on participants during the Catch Cupid if You Can 5K.
