Suicide Cited in Death of Man Found in Missouri Lake

Authorities in southeast Missouri say a 64-year-old man whose body was found in a lake committed suicide.

The Southeast Missourian reports that the body of Terry Dale Dalton of Cape Girardeau was found Saturday morning in Elk's Lake north of Cape Girardeau.

The death was initially considered suspicious. Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton says Dalton had self-inflicted wounds from a handgun, which was also found in the lake.

Relatives had become concerned Friday when Dalton failed to return home from work. A member of a search party found his body in the lake just after midnight Saturday.
