A Quincy man pleads not guilty to multiple charges filed in connection with a high speed chase last August.

In Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday, 23 year old Gaven Steele pleaded not guilty to four counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one count each of possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated fleeing to elude a peace officer.

Steele is alleged to have fired a gun at a residence on North 11th Street early on the morning of August 22nd. This resulted in a pursuit by Quincy Police and Adams County Sheriff’s deputies.

Steele is alleged to have fired his gun at pursuing officers. He was taken into custody after his vehicle was disabled in the Third and Hampshire area.
Steele is in the Adams County Jail on $5-million dollars bond.
