State of Illinois Collects 39 Million Pounds of Electronics

State officials say Illinois recycled nearly 39 million pounds of electronics during the first year of a ban on throwing away the materials in landfills. Illinois residents are required to take electronics to a registered recycler. Manufacturers also are assigned minimum recycling goals and must register and participate or face fines.
