As a person who's afraid of heights, I can't imagine the terror that some are experiencing right now inside the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri right now. Rescuers are reporting that many are trapped inside in trams right now.

This update from the St. Louis, Missouri Fire Department was just shared on X.

As this is a developing story, it will be updated once new information is provided by first responders.

Here is one update from a St. Louis scanner that says several individuals were rescued after being stuck for hours.

UPDATE: 8/12/24 at 7:30pm - Fox 2 in St. Louis reporting that eight trams stopped at 3:18 p.m. 25 people were stranded inside the Arch, but have now been rescued by the St. Louis Fire Department. The north side of the Arch is now shut down as they continue to investigate what caused the trams to stop working.
