Two sisters in a yellow Beetle walked away from an accident in the parking lot of a Hannibal hotel that overturned the vehicle on Friday afternoon.

Linda Weaver, 67, of Fairfax, Iowa and her sister, Cathy Schneberger, 63, of Chesterfield, Missouri were pulling into the west parking lot behind the hotel about 3 p.m. Friday.

Weaver said she was pulling into a parking spot when she hit the accelerator instead of the brake, sending her car through a fence. The car then fell 14 feet to the hotel’s south parking lot.

Other than bumps and bruises, neither Weaver nor Schneberger were hurt. They credit the fact they were both wearing their seat belts for saving their lives.

The ladies are in town for this weekend’s Great Girlfriend Getaway.
