Efforts to fight the spring flood of 2019 continue Saturday morning.

Officials in Clarksville say that sandbagging operations will begin on the riverfront in Clarksville beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Sandbagging will begin at the corner of Lewis and First Streets, with placement of sandbags in other locations along First Street.
Sandbagging will take place until dusk.

City officials say that volunteers will be needed to help with the sandbagging every day until further notice.

Any volunteer in need of community service hours is asked to check in and register so their community service hours can be properly documented.

Lunch will be provided to volunteers free of charge by Clarksville United Methodist Church.

If you have questions, you’re asked to call Cathy at 573-289-4315 or Sue at 314-401-8686.

The river stage in Clarksville early Saturday is nearly two feet over flood stage, and is expected to rise another six feet by next Thursday.
