A number of area communities have put out the call for sandbagging help in keeping the river at bay.

Thursday, the word went out for volunteers at the Oakley-Lindsay Center in Quincy in the east parking lot.

In Hannibal, sandbags were being filled at the Street Department maintenance facility at 701 Warren Barrett Drive.

In Missouri, volunteers were asked to report to the Public Works Shed north of the downtown Ayerco in Canton or to the Fire Station in Alexandria.

In Illinois, sandbagging help has been asked for in the United Methodist Church parking lot in Hull, at the Pike County Fairgrounds in Pleasant Hill and at Mill and Water Streets in Warsaw.
