A bi-annual inspection of Marion County bridges by the Missouri Department of Transportation results in the closing of one bridge in the south part of the county.

According to Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode, MODOT inspectors looked at 96 bridges in the county and found there was one on County Road 411 that was unsafe and should be closed.

The bridge, a 20 foot wooden structure built in 1940, is in the south river bottoms area, near the drainage district pump station.

Bode says the county plans to replace the bridge with a metal culvert and hopes to have the road reopened by mid-May.

Bode says the timetable depends on the weather and how quickly materials come in to complete the project.
